腫瘍制御学分野は、1999年1月に大学院重点化政策の一環として、大学院生の学位取得教育を趣旨として設立されました。初代 片野光男教授（後に医学研究院長、現九州大学名誉教授）が2015年3月まで教室を主宰され、現在も片野名誉教授の研究教育理念である「患者さんを見失わない」臨床研究を継続しています。

当教室は九州大学で初めて樹状細胞ワクチン、活性化リンパ球療法の臨床治験を行った教室であり、「がんと免疫」という研究項目が教室の大きな命題であります。近年、免疫治療が脚光を浴びており、癌治療では腫瘍免疫の理解が避けては通れない領域となってきています。

当教室では診療科を超えて大学院生が集まり臨床研究を行っており、興味深い研究結果を多く発表しています。今後も「患者さんを見据えたがんと免疫の臨床研究」に焦点をおいたトランスレーショナルリサーチを継続して参ります。研究に興味ある学生さんは是非、声をおかけください。

Cancer Therapy and Research graduate school of Medical Sciences, Kyushu University was founded in January 1999 as a department for promoting to get the degree in post graduate students. The first professor is Mitsuo Katano and he presided over the department until March, 2015. His educational philosophy is “the research must be for the patients” and we still take over his philosophy now.

Clinical trial using vaccination of the dendritic cells and the immnotherapy using activated lymphocytes was firstly performed in Kyushu University in our department. Therefore, our research interest is focused “cancer immunology”. Recently, immunotherapy takes much attention and the research of “cancer immunology” has been increasingly important.

In our laboratory, post graduate students from various kinds of clinical departments are performing the research now and they show the many interesting findings. We will continue the translational research for the patients. If you are interested in our department, let’s begin research together.
